Uses and Advantages of Online UPS Power Supply
1. Main Function
An online UPS ensures a continuous power supply. When the mains power is interrupted or unstable, it keeps computers, network systems and other sensitive equipment running with stable, clean power.
2. Internal Structure
- Battery: usually a maintenance-free lead-acid battery, which works as the backup power source.
- Working principle: double conversion, AC to DC to AC. The input AC is rectified into DC, then converted back to pure AC by the inverter to supply the load.
- Inverter: converts the DC power from the battery into AC power for the load.
3. Working Modes
- Normal mode: when the mains is stable, the UPS regulates and filters the power for the load and charges the battery at the same time.
- Battery mode: once the mains fails, the UPS instantly runs on battery power. The inverter converts DC to AC, so the load keeps working without interruption.
4. Transfer Time
When the mains power is cut off, the switch to battery power is 0 ms, so connected equipment never shuts down or restarts.
5. Key Advantages
- Zero transfer time, no interruption
- Stable voltage and frequency output
- Isolates the load from surges, spikes and noise
- Protects precision equipment and data
- Suitable for data centers, hospitals, banks, factories and communication systems
